In 1999 a Japanese manga (comic) was first illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto called Naruto. It was the story of an annoying hyperactive adolescent who want to be a Hokage ninja, the strongest ninja in his village. I was originally supposed to be just a one-shot story that was given the go head for publication in an August 1997 issue of Akamaru Jump, a very popular Japanese manga publication. Instead Naruto has gone on to become one of the most popular anime and manga characters in Japan and has had several dojinshi hentai parodies since published.
